President Bola Tinubu held closed-door talks on Monday with Madagascar President Colonel Michaël Randrianirina at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Malagasy leader arrived at 2:57 p.m. and was led to the forecourt by bagpipers from the Presidential Brigade of Guards.
He was received by a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, before being ushered into the President’s office complex for a closed-door session.
Randrianirina is on his first official visit to Nigeria since assuming office in October 2025.
The agenda of the talks was not disclosed as of press time, but discussions are expected to focus on mutual areas of interest, including regional security, agricultural cooperation and the impact of climate change, which has severely affected Madagascar’s southern infrastructure in recent months.
