Public Appeal for Free, Fair and Credible APC Primaries in Oyo State

The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State
Party Leaders and Stakeholders
APC, Oyo State Chapter

Date: 14th May, 2026.

Subject: Safeguarding the Integrity of Our 2027 Primaries: A Call to Uphold the Will of the People

Distinguished Chairman, Respected Leaders, and Valued Stakeholders,

I write to you as a concerned stakeholder and Director General of the National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance (NPSGGG), with a single appeal: let the voice of the people prevail in our forthcoming party primaries beginning tomorrow.

The APC remains the party of progress and internal democracy. But our credibility at the polls is built on what happens long before election day, and in the fairness of our internal processes.

We must not ignore the lessons of the last Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election. On that occasion, personal interests of a few leaders were allowed to overshadow the collective interest of the party. The result was avoidable division, voter apathy, and ultimately, a walkover for the opposition in a constituency that should naturally belong to the APC. That scenario should serve as a clear warning to all of us.

As we set to begin our primaries, I urge the party leadership to:

1. Provide a level playing field for all aspirants, free from imposition, intimidation, or favouritism.

2. Ensure transparency in the process No sudden change of venues, no late arrival of materials, and no manipulation of delegate lists.
3. Maintain order and security, party officials, security agents, and stakeholders must arrive as scheduled and conduct themselves professionally. There must be no snatching of ballot boxes and no room for political thugs within or around voting venues.

4. Respect the outcome of a free and fair process, so that whoever emerges does so with the legitimacy and backing needed to win in 2027.

Once we get it wrong at the primaries, we risk losing the general election. The people are watching, and they will only follow a party that respects their choice.

Oyo State APC has the structure, the followership, and the capacity to reclaim and consolidate power in 2027. But that can only happen if we put the party above personal ambition and allow internal democracy to work.

I trust that under your leadership, the Oyo State APC will set an example of discipline, fairness, and unity for the entire country.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and statesmanship.

e-Signed:
Alhaji Amb. Abdul-Hakeem Atilade
