An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Falana Oyewole, has rejected his appointment as Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over alleged marginalisation of the Erinje community.
Daily Trust reports that Oyewole conveyed his decision in a letter dated September 22, 2026, addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government.
Oyewole said he reached the decision after consultations with his family and political leaders in Ode-Erinje, noting that the community had not been considered for any strategic political appointment since the administration began.
He said the appointment was appreciated but considered inadequate by many residents of Erinje given the community’s support for Aiyedatiwa and the APC.
“This appointment, while appreciated, is seen by many in our community as a slap on our face, given our massive support and loyalty to your government and to the APC in Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State,” he stated.
Oyewole appealed to the governor to review the distribution of political appointments and consider an indigene of Erinje for a higher and more strategic cabinet position.
