NUJ commends Uba Sani for remitting N548m to NUT

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council has commended Governor Uba Sani for remitting N548 million to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Endwell scheme, resolving a dispute that had been ongoing since 2021.

The Council also praised the Governor for being media-friendly, noting the significant number of journalists appointed to his cabinet since his assumption of office in 2023.

In a communique issued after its monthly congress, the NUJ referred to Governor Uba Sani as a promoter of the rule of law, highlighting his reinstatement of the dethroned Chief of Piriga Chiefdom, Chief Jonathan Pharaguwa Zamuna, in compliance with a National Industrial Court ruling.

The Governor also adhered to the court’s judgment by paying ten million Naira in damages, as well as Chief Zamuna’s salary and other entitlements.

The communique, signed by Ango Bally, Emmanuel Austine Agbo, Maryam Ahmadu Suka, and Gambo Santos Sanga, also commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for his collaboration with the Governor in restoring peace to vulnerable areas like Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Zangon Kataf, and Chikun LGAs.

However, the NUJ expressed serious concern over renewed attacks in Kauru, Sanga, Kajuru, and Kachia LGAs, offering condolences to the victims.

The Council also congratulated Governor Uba Sani on receiving the Governor of the Year award from Thisday Newspaper and Arise News TV, recognizing his achievements in rural development, his non-kinetic approach to addressing security challenges, and his inclusive governance policy, which have contributed to restoring relative peace in the state.
