Kidnapped victims escape from their captors in Benue

Some kidnapped victims hav escaped from their abductors in Ukum Local Goverment Area of Benue State in Nigeria.

The victims who managed to escape from the den of their abductors where received on Thursday by the Chairman of Ukum Local Government, Jonathan Modi in Zaki Biam.

The victims who are indigenes of Ukum revealed that they were kidnapped on December 27th and endured severe hardships, including days without food.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Assistant on Media & Communications to the Chairman, Samuel Atsua.

Atsua noted that Modi expressed deep concern for the well-being of the victims.

He said the victims have been transfered to a hospital for urgent medical care, emphasizing that their fragile health conditions required professional attention.

According to him, the Chairman urged the people of Ukum to embrace peace, aligning with the initiatives of Governor Hyacinth Alia and Bishop of Katsina -Ala Diocese,Most Rev. Fr. Isaac Dugu.

“It is deeply condemnable that, despite ongoing peace efforts, some individuals continue to inflict pain on their own people—mothers, fathers, and brothers.”He said.

Modi warned perpetrators to desist from these acts, reminding them that both the law and divine justice would catch up with those who insist on perpetuating violence.

He reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace and security in Ukum, urging all residents to join hands in the fight against criminality.
