I’ll emerge victorious — Adefarati expresses confidence ahead of APC primary

The member representing Akoko South West/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the All Progressives Congress primary election scheduled for Friday.

Adefarati also called on party members to shun violence and ensure a peaceful conduct of the exercise across the constituency and the state at large.

Speaking ahead of the primaries, the federal lawmaker said the contest remains an internal party affair and urged aspirants and supporters to allow the will of members to prevail without intimidation.

“We belong to the same party, and this is purely an internal affair. There is no reason for us to fight one another. Party members should remain peaceful and freely vote for their preferred aspirant based on their convictions and experience,” he said.

He stressed that politics should not be driven by hostility or violence, adding that all aspirants are members of the same political family with a shared goal of strengthening the party.

“Politics should not be about violence or hostility. Since we belong to the same party, there is no need for conflict among ourselves. I have always believed in peace, and that is why people call me ‘OmoBaba Peace’,” Adefarati stated.

The lawmaker said he remained optimistic about the outcome of the primary, expressing faith in divine support and the backing of constituents.

“By the grace of God, I am very confident and optimistic about tomorrow’s election. In everything I do, I put God first because He controls the affairs of men. I strongly believe that with God on my side, victory is certain,” he added.

Adefarati also highlighted his legislative interventions and constituency projects, noting that he has facilitated employment opportunities, infrastructure development and empowerment programmes for constituents.

“In terms of achievements, I have done a lot for my constituents. I have facilitated employment for over 50 constituents, executed water and sanitation projects, and provided ambulances for emergency services,” he said.

He further listed educational support initiatives, including bursary to students and empowerment grants for constituents across the constituencies.

“I have given N50,000 each to hundreds of students and also distributed N100,000 grants to many constituents as part of empowerment programmes,” he noted.

On national issues, the lawmaker commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, expressing optimism that ongoing economic reforms would yield positive results in due course.

“I believe the government has done very well. The President came in with the experience needed to stabilise the country, and with time Nigerians will begin to enjoy the benefits of these reforms,” he said.

Adefarati, however, urged APC members and supporters to remain peaceful during and after the primaries, warning against actions that could trigger unrest.

“My final advice is that we are brothers and sisters in the same party. There is no need for violence. I have never supported violence in my life, and I appeal to everyone to conduct themselves peacefully,” he said.
