Gunmen Kidnap Ex-Minister Bayo Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons in Ibadan

Armed gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul, 43, was reportedly on her way to drop the children at school.

In a statement signed by Femi Awogboro, Media Aide to Adebayo Adelabu, the family confirmed the abduction.

The statement said Mrs. John-Paul was “reportedly abducted by armed gunmen at about 7:30 a.m. while on her way to drop her children at school in Ibadan,” adding that the attackers “forcefully took away her 12-year-old twin sons who were with her at the time of the incident.”

It further stated that “all relevant security and law enforcement agencies were duly contacted” immediately after the incident, adding that security operatives had commenced investigations to secure the safe return of the victims and apprehend those responsible.

The family said Adebayo Adelabu and relatives are “deeply distressed by this tragic development” but remain hopeful in the ability of security agencies to secure the release of Mrs. John-Paul and her children.

It also appealed to members of the public to “remain calm, avoid speculation, and refrain from circulating unverified information that may jeopardize ongoing security operations.”

The statement urged anyone with useful information that could assist investigations to report to the appropriate security authorities, adding that the family would continue to cooperate fully with security agencies as events unfold.
