The Federal Government has increased the monthly imprest for ministers and other senior public officials, contrary to reports that the allowance was reduced.
The adjustment was contained in the 2026 Annual General Imprest Warrant issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
Under the new structure, ministers will receive N700,000 monthly imprest, up from N300,000, representing an increase of about 133 per cent.
Other categories of public officials, including permanent secretaries, directors-general and directors, also received revised upward allocations.
The earlier report that imprest had been slashed across ministries, departments and agencies was found to be inaccurate following a review of the official warrant.
Spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, confirmed the adjustment, saying it affected ministers and other senior officials.
He said the review was influenced by prevailing economic realities.
The development comes amid ongoing discussions on public sector remuneration, with the national minimum wage currently pegged at N70,000 per month.
Labour unions have continued to push for a review of the wage structure, while the Nigerian Governors’ Forum has proposed N100,000 minimum wage.
