FEC Approves Reform of NYSC

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reform of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This was disclosed by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande.

Addressing State House correspondents after the meeting at the Presidential Villa, on Monday, the Minister said will include a full review of the Scheme.

The NYSC was created in 1973 to promote National Unity after the civil war.

For 53 years, the scheme has assisted in bringing together Nigerian graduates and strengthen national unity across the country.

The Minister, however, said after many years, a reform has been imperative, adding that “our needs as a country have changed and many expect the objectives of NYSC to also change.”
