Akingbaso felicitates Idanre, Ifedore constituents on Independence Day

The member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, has felicitated with his constituents and Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Akingbaso, in a message marking the anniversary and the beginning of October, acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, saying the resilience of ordinary citizens remained a source of strength.

He specifically commended farmers, traders, workers, youths and other residents of Idanre and Ifedore for their daily efforts to sustain their families and communities despite the prevailing challenges.

The lawmaker said, “Today, we celebrate Nigeria at 66. This day is about you—the farmers, the traders in Ifedore and Idanre, and the youths hustling daily to make ends meet. I know times are hard, but your strength keeps me going.”

Akingbaso, who is the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, assured his constituents that he would continue to represent their interests at the National Assembly and work towards attracting development to the constituency.

He said his representation would remain focused on giving the people a stronger voice at the federal level while ensuring that the dividends of democracy were brought closer to the communities.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960, the lawmaker said the country had passed through difficult periods, including the Civil War, insecurity and economic hardship, but had continued to demonstrate resilience and a capacity to overcome challenges.

He paid tribute to the country’s founding leaders and Nigerians who had continued to make sacrifices for the survival and development of the nation.

Akingbaso urged Nigerians to remain committed to national unity, saying the country’s diversity should be seen as a strength and a basis for collective progress.

He expressed optimism that Nigeria’s best days were still ahead and prayed for improved peace, security, prosperity and development across the country.

The lawmaker wished the people of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Ondo State and Nigerians at large a happy Independence Anniversary and a fruitful month of October.

“Happy Independence Day to you all. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria,” he said.
