IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA — The Beracah Charity and Welfare Foundation, founded by Dr Mary Ikotun-Otuyele, is set to strengthen its support for vulnerable women and children as it prepares to celebrate its annual anniversary of empowering mothers and children on October 31, 2026.
The event, which will focus on widows and single mothers, will also feature the launch of a vocational training initiative aimed at creating opportunities for women to develop practical skills and improve their livelihoods.
Founded on November 23, 2021, and based in Ibadan, Oyo State, the Beracah Charity and Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organisation committed to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and families through education, healthcare support, livelihood development and emergency assistance.
The foundation’s work is guided by the belief that lasting change requires more than immediate relief. Through its programmes, it seeks to equip individuals and families with the opportunities and resources they need to build more stable futures.
Its initiatives include educational support through scholarships, school supplies and mentoring; medical outreach and health awareness; vocational training and small-business support; as well as the provision of food, clothing and essential supplies to families experiencing hardship.
The planned vocational training launch at this year’s anniversary reflects the foundation’s broader commitment to sustainable empowerment, particularly for women who face economic and social challenges. By providing opportunities to acquire practical skills, the initiative seeks to support greater self-reliance and help beneficiaries build sustainable sources of income.
Beyond individual support, the foundation works with community leaders, volunteers, partners and donors to extend its impact and promote shared responsibility for community welfare.
Its vision is to raise empowered individuals and families who build lasting legacies and positively impact society, while its mission centres on equipping, supporting and connecting communities through faith-based programmes and practical welfare initiatives.
The foundation’s work is anchored in its commitment to serving every life with professional excellence, spiritual depth and unconditional compassion.
As it prepares for the October 31 anniversary, the foundation is inviting individuals, businesses and organisations to support its mission through donations, volunteering and partnerships that can help expand its community programmes.
The anniversary provides an opportunity to recognise the needs of widows and single mothers while drawing attention to the importance of practical interventions that can help women build livelihoods, support their families and contribute to their communities.
