Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
The decision was reached during the party’s presidential primaries held on Tuesday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Sowore secured the ticket after receiving unanimous endorsement from delegates and party leaders present at the exercise, further cementing his position within the party’s leadership structure as preparations intensify for the next general election.
At the end of the process, he was officially presented with the party flag in celebration of his emergence as the flag bearer.
In his acceptance remarks after being nominated to represent the party in the 2027 presidential race, Sowore said the AAC was established with the aim of building a new Nigeria.
He also thanked delegates from across the country for their commitment, resilience, and belief in the party’s ideology.
Sowore had earlier stated that the party remains focused on tackling corruption, poor governance, insecurity, and economic hardship affecting millions of Nigerians.
