The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruled out any review of the results of its recently concluded primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to The Punch, the ruling party has concluded work on the results submitted to its national secretariat and is preparing to upload the names of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.
The decision comes despite petitions and protests by several aggrieved aspirants who accused party officials of manipulation and imposition during the primaries.
A senior party official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the timeline for primaries and appeals had elapsed, stressing that the party was not considering any review of the results.
The official stated that most of the petitions submitted by dissatisfied aspirants were found to be frivolous and did not warrant changes to the outcome of the primaries.
INEC has fixed June 26 for the release of access codes to its nomination portal and July 11 as the deadline for the submission of candidates’ particulars for the 2027 elections.
Some of the petitions were filed by aspirants in states including Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Zamfara, Kogi, Plateau and Osun.
Among them is Senator Ned Nwoko, who is reportedly challenging the outcome of the Delta North Senatorial District primary won by former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Some aspirants in Rivers State are also said to have challenged the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as the party’s governorship candidate.
Another member of the National Working Committee dismissed reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had intervened in the post-primary disputes, describing the claims as false.
The official maintained that all candidates who emerged from the primaries, including those in Lagos State, had been confirmed and would be uploaded to the INEC portal.
However, some aggrieved aspirants expressed optimism that the President could still intervene before the final submission of candidates’ names.
One aspirant alleged that influential figures within the party were preventing Tinubu from getting the full picture of the disputes arising from the primaries.
Another warned that unresolved grievances could affect the party’s performance in the 2027 elections, cautioning that dissatisfied members might either defect or work against the APC from within.
