Seventeen members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), deepening the political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Their defections were formally announced on the floor of the House during plenary.

The move follows similar defections by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and ex-New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) flagbearer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who both left the ADC for the NDC on Monday.
