Tinubu Approves Tenure Renewal for Three Permanent Secretaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of tenure for three permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service in line with extant public service rules.

The affected officials are Kachallom Shangti Daju, Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare; Beatrice Jedy-Agba, Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Justice; and Mary Ada Ogbe, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development.

This was announced in a statement signed by Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

According to the statement, the approval takes effect from April 27, 2026, and represents a second and final term of four years for the officials.

The renewal is in accordance with the provisions of Public Service Rule (PSR) 020909, which allows Permanent Secretaries to serve an initial four-year term and, subject to satisfactory performance, qualify for a further four-year tenure.

While congratulating the officials on their reappointment, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, urged them to regard the renewed mandate as a call to greater dedication and excellence in the discharge of their duties.

She encouraged them to deploy their wealth of experience and professional expertise toward effective service delivery and the advancement of national development goals.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has approved the redeployment of several serving Permanent Secretaries across key ministries and offices of the Federal Government.

The directive was contained in a circular dated March 5, 2026, and signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack.

The circular was addressed to top government officials including the Chief of Staff to the President, ministers, permanent secretaries, heads of paramilitary agencies and other senior public office holders.

According to the circular, the redeployment takes immediate effect from March 5, 2026, while all handing-over processes are expected to be completed on or before Friday, March 13, 2026.

Under the new postings, Kambari Mahmud Adam has been moved from the Ministry of Environment to the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Rimi Nura Abba, formerly with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Steel Development, while Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi, previously in the Special Services Office and Political and Economic Affairs unit in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has been posted to the Ministry of Finance to handle Special Duties.

Similarly, Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanwem has been moved from the Ministry of Steel Development to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, while Salihu Aminu Usman has been redeployed from the Ministry of Labour and Employment to the Ministry of Environment.

The circular also indicated that Ukaire Binyerem Chigbonwu, previously with the Career Management Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, has been posted to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation where he will understudy Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam.

In the same vein, Muhammed Muktari Yawale, formerly with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology where he will understudy Mr. Philip E. Ndiomu.

Also affected is Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi, who has been moved from the Special Duties Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.

Walson-Jack urged all affected officials and ministries to ensure smooth transitions and compliance with the directive within the stipulated timeline.
