President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC.
The President also nominated seven people to fill vacant commissioner positions at the National Population Commission.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement, said Ida who holds an MSc in Banking & Finance from the University of Ibadan (1983) and an LLB from the University of Abuja (2003), was elected to the Senate in 2017 to represent Katsina Central.
He had served as the Commissioner of Finance for Katsina State and as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Civil Service.
The statement also revealed that those nominated as Federal Commissioners to represent their respective States in the National Population Commission include; Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, representing Ekiti State; Nasiru Mu’azu, Zamfara and Usman Tuggar, Bauchi State.
Others are Isaka Yahaya, Kwara; Sadiq Radda, Katsina; Suleiman Umar, Jigawa and Chiso Dattijo, representing Sokoto State.
The appointments, which complement other Federal Commissioners already sworn in, are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly:
Onanuga said the President also appointed Yusuf Mohammed from Kano State as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.
This is just as the President also confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Bello as his Special Adviser on Political Economy.
Bello, who hails from Kebbi State, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Before this current appointment, Bello had served as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as well as Executive Director, Corporate Services at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank from 2017 to 2022.
“President Tinubu strongly believes in the capacities of the appointees to put in their best to further the administration’s commitment to a better lease of life for Nigerians.” the statement said.
