Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State have commended the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for improving the infrastructural development across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The party leaders under the auspices of the Concerned Grassroots Leaders in Ondo APC, warned the litigants not to distract the governor with court cases, saying Aiyedatiwa had not declared to contest for a second but he had faced the administration.

A judgment of the Federal High Court, sitting in Akure last week, stopped the purported ambition of the state governor to contest for the second term in office.

The governor, in his reaction, said he was taken to court and he had never told anyone that he was contesting for reelection.

Speaking with our correspondent in Akure, on Monday, the convener of the group, Babajide Akinwolere, said Aiyedatiwa had demonstrated commitment, stability and purposeful leadership in steering the affairs of the state and need not be distracted with unnecessary court cases.

He said, “People should not distract the governor with unnecessary litigations, he is doing well in the state. His administration has continued to place the welfare of the people at the centre of governance, while ensuring that development reaches every part of the state.

“In the area of infrastructure, the administration has continued ongoing projects and initiated new ones aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities, and enhancing connectivity between communities. These efforts are laying a solid foundation for sustainable development in Ondo State. The government under Governor Aiyedatiwa has remained committed to improving education, strengthening healthcare services, empowering youths, and supporting Small and Medium-scale enterprises.

“I think we should allow him to stay more focused with all the developmental projects across the state, as he has not come out to declare his intention to contest for the second term. We should not distract him.”

Another chieftain of the party, Dele Akarigbo, described the governor as a law-abiding person who respects the law, saying Aiyedatiwa would abide by whatever the outcome of the court is.

“Don’t forget, the governor is a law-abiding person. About the court case, whatever the court says, our governor is ready to abide by a judicial pronouncement.

“But don’t let us forget that if the people say, this is the person we want, because of his commitment to their well-being, I don’t think the court will say no to it. When the people speak, the law must respect the opinion of the good people of Ondo State at the appropriate time,” he stated.
