The member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Festus Akingbaso, popularly known as Fessywest, has promised to intensify empowerment initiatives for his constituents if re-elected.
Akingbaso made the promise in an interview with journalists shortly after the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress campaign for the 2027 general elections in Idanre, Ondo State, on Monday.
The campaign rally, which attracted APC leaders, candidates and supporters, marked the formal commencement of the party’s campaign activities in the constituency ahead of the elections.
Addressing the gathering, the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, urged party members to maintain unity and work collectively towards the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Aiyedatiwa said the unity of members remained crucial to the party’s performance at the polls, urging supporters to put aside differences and mobilise voters for the party’s candidates.
The governor also formally presented the APC candidates to party supporters during the event, signalling the commencement of the party’s campaign activities in the state.
Also speaking, the state APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, warned against anti-party activities, stressing that members were expected to support candidates contesting under the party’s platform at all levels.
Babatunde said the directive covered candidates from the presidential election to the various legislative contests, urging members to remain loyal to the party and its programmes.
Akingbaso, in his remarks, appealed to constituents to support all APC candidates including Senator Akingbonmire and Kayode Akinboni at the polls, while assuring them that he would continue to prioritise empowerment and other initiatives aimed at improving their welfare.
The lawmaker also appreciated Gov. Aiyedatiwa for deeming it fit to attend the party event despite his tight schedule.
He equally commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his backing and efforts towards advancing the nation’s development.
