The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has directed all commands and formations of the Nigeria Police Force to submit details of serving inspectors and rank-and-file personnel with doctorate, master’s and Bachelor of Laws qualifications.
Sahara Reporters reports that the directive was contained in a police wireless message dated September 14, 2026, and marked “Most/Immediate”.
According to the message issued by the Force Secretary’s Office in Abuja, the affected commands, departments, police colleges and training institutions are required to submit the requested information by Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The message read, “IGP directs, as a matter of urgency, that you forward a list of inspectors/rank-and-file serving under you who are holders of doctorate degrees, master’s degrees or LLB, in addition to their posting signals, on or before 16/09/2026. I repeat, on or before 16/09/2026. Treat as very important.”
The directive was addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Training and Development, police colleges, various departments and training institutions, as well as state commands.
Copies of the wireless message were also sent to the office of the Inspector-General of Police and all Commissioners of Police.
The police authorities specifically requested details of personnel in the inspector and rank-and-file categories who possess any of the listed academic qualifications, alongside their posting signals.
The request was classified as urgent, with September 16, 2026, set as the deadline for submission.
