Oyo Govt Demolishes Building Over Alleged Arms Stockpile

The Government of Oyo State has demolished a residential property allegedly used for storing a large cache of arms and ammunition in a renewed crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

The building, which includes a storey structure and two bungalows within a fenced compound, is located at Gbenku area, Arubiewe Road, along Olodo Garage in Ibadan.

Officials led to the site by the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Mojeed Mogbonjubola, confirmed that security agencies uncovered the alleged weapons during an ongoing investigation.

He said the demolition was carried out in line with the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb kidnapping and violent crime.

The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies, while also advising landlords and property agents to conduct proper background checks on tenants before renting out properties.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal networks operating within Ibadan and other parts of the state.
