NUOLGS Honours Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola with Award of Excellence, Secures Commitment for Students’ Welfare and Youth Empowerment

The National Leadership of the National Union of Okitipupa Local Government Students (NUOLGS), under the leadership of the National President, Prince Adeoye Omoleminu, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre (OSAEC), Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola, in a bid to strengthen collaboration towards the advancement of students’ welfare, youth empowerment, and educational development within Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State at large.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks by the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, who warmly received and welcomed the NUOLGS delegation. Thereafter, Comrade Sajo Oluwakemi, National Assistant General Secretary, formally introduced members of the National Executive Council and highlighted the Union’s vision, achievements, and commitment to the welfare and progress of students.

In his address, the National President, Prince Adeoye Omoleminu, expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola for his outstanding contributions to youth empowerment, agricultural development, and human capital advancement in Ondo State. He commended the Chairman’s visionary leadership and the remarkable impact of the programmes being implemented through the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre.

The President further identified key areas where the Union seeks partnership with the agency, including bursary and scholarship opportunities, internship placements, agricultural training programmes, entrepreneurship development, skills acquisition initiatives, career mentorship, youth empowerment schemes, employment opportunities for graduates, and special opportunities for students interested in agriculture and agribusiness.

As a mark of recognition for his unwavering commitment to youth development and empowerment, the Union presented Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola with an Award of Excellence in Youth Empowerment.

In his response, the Chairman expressed gratitude to the leadership of NUOLGS for the visit and commended the Union for its purposeful leadership, unity, and dedication to the welfare of students. He appreciated the confidence reposed in him by the Union and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes and initiatives that promote education, entrepreneurship, and youth development.

In a significant demonstration of his support for students, Hon. Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola approved financial support for the Union to assist in the execution of students’ welfare and developmental programmes. He emphasized the importance of investing in students as future leaders and agents of societal development, assuring the Union of his continued support towards initiatives that will positively impact the academic and social well-being of students across Okitipupa Local Government.

The Chairman also highlighted several empowerment opportunities available through the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre, including agribusiness training, youth empowerment schemes, entrepreneurial support programmes, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at equipping young people with practical skills and sustainable means of livelihood.

Furthermore, he assured the Union that students with interests in agriculture and agribusiness would be given the opportunity to participate in relevant programmes of the agency. He pledged his continued support for students’ welfare, educational advancement, and empowerment initiatives that will contribute meaningfully to the development of Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo State.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing their commitment to building a sustainable partnership that will create greater opportunities for students, promote youth empowerment, and contribute to the socio-economic development of society.

The National President was accompanied by members of the National Executive Council, including Comrade Adegeye John Oluwafemi, National Public Relations Officer (P.R.O); Comrade Sajo Oluwakemi, National Assistant General Secretary; and Comrade Akinlade Adejumoke, Special Assistant on Welfare to the National President.

The delegation reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to promoting educational excellence, youth empowerment, and leadership development among students of Okitipupa Local Government.
