According to the police, the victims were rescued at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday following days of intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated tactical operations.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Anthony Okon Placid, said the operation led to a confrontation with the kidnappers.

“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered,” the statement said.

He added that the rescued victims were found unharmed and have since been receiving medical attention and support.
