VIDEO: Nigeria’s Resources not enough for its Population — Tinubu’s Spokesman

The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said the slow pace of economic growth in Nigeria is due to the country’s large population and limited resources.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Bwala said that the government has made progress in stabilising the exchange rate and increasing revenue available to states. However, he noted that many Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of these gains in their daily lives.

According to Tinubu’s spokesman, Nigeria’s population of over 230 million people is putting pressure on available resources, making it difficult for government revenue to meet the country’s needs and infrastructure demands.

Responding to question on why many Nigerians are still suffering despite gains the current administration claimed to have recorded across sectors, Bwala said, “The answer is simple, population and resources. The population we have is over 230 million. The resources we have, however, the increased revenue, is not enough to match the population and deficit in terms of the infrastructure. So, growth, however, will have to be slow. But it will be slow, steady, and consistent. That is what we take pride in.”
