NUOLGS Demands Immediate Release of Kidnapped Students, Threatens Nationwide Solidarity Walk

The National Union of Okitipupa Local Government Students (NUOLGS) National Headquarters, under the leadership of its National President, Prince Adeoye Omoleminu, strongly condemns the unfortunate abduction of innocent school children and teachers in Oyo State.

As a student body committed to the protection, welfare, and advancement of Nigerian students, we view this tragic incident as a direct attack on education, humanity, and the future of our nation. It is painful and deeply disturbing that students and teachers who left their homes in pursuit of knowledge have now become victims of fear, insecurity, and trauma.

NUOLGS stands in total solidarity with the affected families, communities, students, teachers, and the entire people of Oyo State during this difficult moment. We share in the pain and emotional burden of every parent and guardian praying for the safe return of their children.

This unfortunate incident once again exposes the alarming insecurity confronting students and educational institutions across the country. The Union therefore condemns the continued neglect and weak response of the government toward matters affecting students and the education sector. No nation can progress when its students are forced to learn under fear and uncertainty.

We hereby call on the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, all security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to immediately intensify efforts toward the safe and unconditional rescue of the abducted students and teachers. Every necessary security mechanism and intelligence operation must be urgently activated to ensure their safe return.

Furthermore, NUOLGS urges the government to strengthen security around schools and vulnerable communities to prevent future occurrences of such heartbreaking incidents. The safety of students and teachers must remain a national priority and not an afterthought.

The Union wishes to clearly state that an injury to one student is an injury to all students. We cannot continue to remain silent while innocent students are exposed to danger and fear.

Consequently, if urgent and meaningful actions are not taken by the appropriate authorities, NUOLGS will mobilize Okitipupa Local Government students across Nigeria and in the diaspora for a peaceful solidarity walk and coordinated mass action to demand the immediate release of our fellow students and teachers.
