Sowore Announces Date for ‘Occupy Aso Rock’ Protest, School Walkout Over Insecurity

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has announced Thursday, June 4, 2026, as the date for a protest tagged #OccupyAsoRock and a coordinated school walkout over rising insecurity and recent cases of kidnappings across the country.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, Sowore called for urgent government action to secure the release of abducted victims, including schoolchildren, amid growing concern over repeated attacks on educational institutions in parts of the country, including Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

He said the continued abduction of students and other citizens reflects a deepening security crisis, stressing the need for immediate intervention by authorities to ensure the rescue of victims.

Sowore also demanded the resignation of President Bola Tinubu if the situation is not addressed, writing: “Rescue all kidnapped children and victims now or Tinubu must resign. Enough is enough!”

The planned protest is expected to take place at the Aso Rock Villa, while the school walkout is aimed at students across the country.
