Former Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly and current member representing Gwaram Constituency, Rt. Hon. Isah Idris, has resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Isah disclosed this in a resignation letter he signed and addressed to the APC Chairman of Gwaram Ward.
According to the letter, “I wish to write and formally inform you about my decision to resign my membership from the All progressives Congress, APC.
“As a former Speaker and founding member of the party, I hope the APC would uphold the principles and ideals it was formed.
“In view of this, I strongly believe it is the proper time for me step aside.”
His resignation may not be unconnected to the recent screening of APC aspirants, during which he was reportedly screened out and replaced by Ado Yakubu Zandam.
Although the lawmaker has yet to officially announce his next political move, findings indicate that he may soon defect to either the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
