The Nigerian Army has promoted six Majors to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them as they assume higher responsibilities.
The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Adebayo Babalola, gave the charge during a decoration ceremony held at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday.
The newly decorated officers are Lieutenant Colonel A. Sanusi, Lieutenant Colonel A.L. Lawal, Lieutenant Colonel L.A. Ishaku, Lieutenant Colonel B.J. Gimba, Lieutenant Colonel M.B. Sifawa, and Lieutenant Colonel G.O. Uwagboe.
They currently serve in various strategic roles within the division, including intelligence, training, education, administration, and regimental duties.
Congratulating the officers, Babalola commended their dedication and professionalism, noting that their promotion was based on merit, consistency, and proven competence.
“I have carefully observed your progression, and I am confident that greater responsibilities await you if you remain focused,” he said.
He stressed that the new rank comes with greater expectations and accountability, urging the officers to remain disciplined and committed to service.
In a statement issued by Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of 81 Division, the GOC further called on the officers to redouble their efforts in serving the nation.
Babalola emphasised that the promotion was not merely ceremonial but a call to duty, requiring renewed commitment, discipline, and professional excellence.
