Biography
Femi Akorin is a Nigerian musician, composer, and producer from Okitipupa, a town in the Ikale-speaking region of Ondo State, Nigeria. An indigene of the Ikale ethnic group, he is widely recognised for promoting his cultural heritage through music composed in both the Ikale dialect and the broader Yoruba language.
He was born in Okitipupa as the second of four children in his family. From a young age, Femi demonstrated a natural affinity for music, which shaped his journey into becoming a respected Nigerian indigenous artist.
Education
Femi Akorin began his early education at Wesley Nursery and Primary School in Okitipupa. He later attended Stella Maris College, also in Okitipupa, for his secondary education.
He gained admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, where he studied Political Science Education and graduated with a Second Class Upper degree. Following his graduation, he completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Osogbo, Osun State.

Femi Akorin’s musical journey began in his early years, growing up in a Jehovah’s Witness family, which initially posed challenges in fully exploring his musical interests. Despite this, his talent became evident early as he developed skills in playing musical instruments.
He started by learning the drum set before advancing to the keyboard, laying a strong foundation in music. After secondary school, Femi met Omotayo, a fellow music enthusiast, and both trained under Michael Ayan. During this period, Femi specialised in playing the Omele, a traditional Yoruba talking drum component, while Omotayo focused on the drum set.
Femi later joined the Yemiyobo Band in Okitipupa, where he played the Omele. Over time, he performed with various musicians within and outside Ondo State, gaining valuable experience in the Nigerian music scene. During his university years, he continued to grow, performing for artists such as Akoko Lori Gangan and King Dare Mercy. His experience with Dare Mercy played a key role in shaping his musical direction and career growth.
While working closely with Dare Mercy, Femi learned music production at Obam Studio. This marked a turning point in his career, enabling him to produce his own music and expand his audience. His first professional production, the single “Ikale,” helped establish his identity as a Nigerian Ikale music artist. Since then, he has produced numerous songs and jingles for various clients.
