Bandits Abduct Teenage Boy, Six Girls from FCT Community

A fresh wave of fear has swept through Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory after bandits abducted a 16-year-old boy and six girls during a late-night attack.

Daily Trust reports that Gidan-Bijimi lies close to Marke village along the Kaduna border, an area that has witnessed repeated security breaches in recent months.

A resident of Kawu, Suleiman Shuaibu, confirmed the incident in a phone conversation with Daily Trust on Thursday morning. He explained that the attackers stormed two homes at about 9:47 p.m., shooting indiscriminately before taking the teenagers away.

He said the community was thrown into confusion as gunshots echoed through the night. Some vigilantes tried to engage the armed men but were overpowered due to the bandits’ superior weapons.

Shuaibu revealed that the abducted girls are between 17 and 23 years old.

“It was around 9:53 pm when a call came from Gidan -Bijimi community that some bandits invaded the village and abducted six young girls, unfortunately my cousin sister happened to be among the victims,” he said.

He added that the attack forced several residents to flee their homes while the community still awaits any form of contact from the kidnappers.
