JUST IN: Tinubu Writes Senate, Requests Confirmation of Newly Appointed Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, asking for the screening and confirmation of the newly appointed service chiefs.

The request was conveyed in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In the correspondence, Tinubu listed the nominees as General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence.

After reading the letter, Akpabio referred the request to the Committee of the Whole, directing that the nominees be screened and considered for confirmation in the coming week.

Tinubu had earlier, on Monday, met privately with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he reportedly discussed national security strategies and expectations.
